The writing prompt for today was Daydreams. I know what mine was when I was raising 6 teenagers at the same time.
Daydreams
Mom smiled. It was rare for all the kids to be getting along so well. The chores were done, so the kids were playing a game in the family room. She could hear laughter drift up the stairs. Dinner was in the slow cooker and the house smelled wonderful. She had time now to sit and relax. Maybe she would read a book, or just enjoy the quiet and let her mind drift off into a daydream. “Mom! She’s using my brush!” “You didn’t have to hit me with it!” “What’s for dinner? I’m starving!” “Mom, I need a costume for the Christmas pageant tomorrow.”
Mom slowly opened the bathroom door. It was a nice dream while it lasted.
