The Smooms

The Smooms

In my last post,  I introduced you to the Blomes, one of the two groups of creatures in my new book "The Blomes, the Smooms and the Impossible Bridge."  Today, I would like to introduce the beautiful Smooms.
The Smooms are creative and artistic.  Their side of the valley sparkles with bright colors and  beautiful paintings and sculptures and rings with beautiful music.  They believe anything worth doing is worth doing beautifully and to them, a world without bright beautiful colors would be no world that they would want to live in.  They don't have the inventions to make their lives easier or have fun with, but their world is beautiful!
Do you know any Smooms? Can you relate to them yourself?
I know so many amazing Smooms in my life and I admire them so much! They are the ones like my aunt Stephanie who always have the perfectly decorated houses for the holidays.  They are like my sister Kimberly who infuses beautiful original music into her days and everyday activities.  They are like my amazing friend Emma who creates beautiful art out of everyday moments.
My mom was a Smoom.  She was an incredibly talented musician and she could play every instrument she ever picked up (except the bagpipes and that always kind of bugged her).  She has a beautiful voice and she loves to sing and perform.  She taught music in schools for most of her life and I know countless students were blessed by the beauty she brought into their lives with music.
I love the Smooms because they remind me of all the wonderful people in my life that infuse it with color and music!
As a Blome myself, I am so grateful that this world I live in has so many amazing Smooms.
