This month's virtue is humility vs. Pride.
My favorite definition of pride is,
"Pride is the vice of comparing ourselves to others."
The definition I really like for humility is from C.S. Lewis
"Humility is not thinking less of yourself, but thinking of yourself less."
I've been working on humility this month and, like with all of the other virtues in working on, the biggest change for me is that it's easier for me to see when I'm wrong. I'm getting better at recognizing this faster and changing my behavior.
But of course I have so far to go.
One of the things I'm really worrying on this week is listening with humility. I got these steps from lds.org
Listen with Humility
Seek first to understand.
Acknowledge their experience.
Avoid being dismissive or judgmental.
Keep your emotions in check.
Ask open-ended questions.
Acknowledge your limitations.
I really have seen a benefit in my health and quality of life by doing this challenge. I hope it's helping others as well. I would love to hear your experience.
